What is Coaching?
Definition of Coaching:
Personal Coaching is a professional relationship reached in agreement between a client and a coach. It is based on the client's expressed interests, goals, and objectives.
Personal Coaching is a learning process. A Personal Coach may use powerful questions reflection, requests and discussion to help clients identify personal and/or business and/or relationship goals, develop strategies, relationships and action plans intended to achieve those goals. A coach provides a place for clients to be held accountable to themselves by monitoring the clients' progress towards implementation of their action plans. Together they evolve and modify the plan to best suit the client's needs. A Personal Coach acts as a human mirror for clients by sharing an outside and unbiased perspective on what they are observing about their clients.

Questions you may have:
Who is the coaching client?
The client is someone who wants to reach a higher level of performance, learning, satisfaction and/or self awareness. The client is not seeking relief from past trauma or psychological therapy.
Our clients agree to enter the coaching relationship with an open spirit and a willingness to explore new ideas and perspectives with the support of the coach. The greatest progress in coaching occurs when the client is motivated to take action and follow through.
How does the process work?
The coach and client work in a partnership. They arrange the schedule and means of contact either in person, by phone, or via e-mail. A minimum of three months is suggested to establish the relationship and achieve the greatest results. At the end of the contract the coach and client can assess the relationship and decide whether further coaching would be of benefit.
What is a coaching partnership?
Coaching is a professional partnership between the coach and client. A coach's position is not one of authority. Coaching is based on the principle that clients have their own answers and are the ultimate judges of what is best for them, based on their individual needs. It does not aim to "fix" the client. Ideas may be given at times with the understanding that the client is free to accept or reject the suggestion and is ultimately responsible for any action taken.
Relationship is the foundation of coaching. The coach and client intentionally develop a relationship of mutual appreciation, trust and respect for each other.
What happens in a session?
Coaching is based on the exploration of cognitive(what you think) and behavioural ( what you do) patterns or habits. It identifies the clients "self talk". Coaching can incorporate the use of powerful questioning techniques, tools and strategies. The coach also relies on their natural intuitive and trained listening skills to hear what the client is and is not saying. It works through a clarifying process of identifying and re-framing unproductive behaviour or thought patterns. It is designed to help clients improve performance, and enhance their quality of life.
Coach and client together choose the focus and desired outcomes for their sessions. It may include a broad spectrum of topics depending on the client's expressed objectives. The client is fully responsible for creating and maintaining these objectives. Clients are responsible for their own achievements and successes. A coach cannot and does not promise that a client will take any specific action or attain specific goals.
Is the discussion confidential?
In coaching, information from the client is used by the coach to promote the client's awareness and choice of action. This information is not used or shared with anyone but the person being coached.
What is the long term impact?
Coaching is designed to provide clients with a "tool box" of skills to produce results and increase the client's confidence in their ability to do so. It is intended that clients will leave the coaching relationship with the resources needed and not be reliant on the coach to maintain the positive momentum they have established.
The coaching relationship remains open. If in the future the client wishes to explore new areas of achievement, they may seek the support and accountability partnership of the coach.
